Kebang Expert passes away
Pasighat, Oct 23: Veteran social activist and renowned Kebang expert of Bogong Banggo, Narmi Barling Yomso breathed his last on Oct 21 after prolonged illness at his residence at Sibo Village near Pasighat.
During his lifetime, he had the charismatic command and leadership in dispensing justice through Kebang and settlement of numerous social issues. He was instrumental in coordinating administration of law and order in the village. He was laid to rest on 22nd October. DIPRO

AALO, Oct 23: The District Level Workshop on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and role of panchayat was organized by department of PHED for West Siang and Siang district recently.
West Siang ZPC Yaman Bagra stressed on proper coordination among PRIs and officers for its effective implementation.
ZPC Siang Opung Jerang too sought the cooperation of the PHED as newly created Siang will be launching the mission from West Siang only.
Chief Engineer, PHED Er. Tagom Ketan reiterated that the progamme is going on for more than sixty years without much breakthrough since its inception in the year 1954. PRIs, Civil society, NGOs and public should come up with a sense of commitments and participatory approach to make this mission more meaningful, he said.
The resource person Er, Tomi Ete, former Secretary PHED shared his long years of association with the programme and exhorted the three tiers of Panchayat and NGOs to take the lead role to fulfill Gandhiji's vision of clean India.

DA takes stock of infrastructure development
SEPPA, Oct 24: East Kameng DC Sandeep Kumar Singh today held a review meeting with the UD & Housing Department in order to expedite various ongoing projects, particularly construction of school building of Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Bebo Colony and Bazarline, burial ground and road networks at Seppa town.
DC Singh gave emphasis on CC roads and directed the Deputy Director (UD) to submit a plan for the works to be carried out in the coming season. The construction should be as per prescribed norms and guidelines and there should not be any compromise with thickness and quality of works for its durability, he added.
Deputy Director (UD & Housing) T Tachang highlighted the current status of the four projects.
A committee comprising the DC, DDSE and Deputy Director, DUDA will conduct physical verification of the works on school buildings at Bebo colony and Bazarline on every second Saturday and post second Saturday of every month.
The meeting fixed a timeframe for appointment of the engineer at the work site by contractors and also management of men power and procurement of required machineries by October 30, 2015. It was also decided that the contractors of the four projects should start work on November 1 without delay and payment would be made as per achievement. DIPRO

4 houses gutted at Dumporijo, 3 in Pasighat
ITANAGAR, Oct 23: Four houses were burnt down in a massive fire that broke out at Dumporijo under Upper Subansiri district on Wednesday morning.
The Galo Students Union (GSU) informed that the dwelling houses of Dal Hali, Yaba Haji, Tanya Doyom and Tonya Marde were completely gutted and no household items could be rescued.
A team of Galo Students' Union visited the fire accident victims and coordinated the relief efforts along with USGSU volunteers, stated the release.
Meanwhile, another house was also reduced to ashes at Baririjo on early Wednesday.

Household properties, including cloths, food items, important documents and machineries etc were completely bunt down in the fire. The fire tenders reportedly arrived late and failed to douse the fire.

Walong landing ground ready for operations
New Delhi, Oct 23: The Advanced Landing Ground at Walong in Arunachal Pradesh was
inaugurated on Friday by Air Marshal C Hari Kumar, Air Officer Commanding-
Thereafter, it remained abandoned for a long time till it was decided in 2013 to reconstruct the ALG to make it fully air operational, defence sources said.
The project was very closely monitored by the Chief Engineer, Northeastern Projects and Works Department at Headquarters Eastern Air Command resulting in its completion in a record time of 21 months.
The strategic location of Walong ALG will be a launching pad for Air operations and also facilitate the administration in the management of border areas, the sources said.
Besides this, the ALG will also provide air support in responding to natural calamities, casualty evacuations, humanitarian assistance and supply of equipment and ration to troops posted in far flung areas. PTI
Rajnath ticks off Singh, Rijiju

NEW DELHI, Oct 23: Home Minister Rajnath Singh today ticked off Union Ministers V K Singh and Kiren Rijiju for their controversial statements and said they can't get away by saying that they were misinterpreted.
"We can't get away by saying that statements were misinterpreted or twisted. We need to be extra careful while putting forth our views," he told reporters here.
The Home Minister's snub came a day after External Affairs Minister V K Singh said that the Centre cannot be blamed if somebody throws a stone at a dog in connection with the killing of two Dalit children in Faridabad, which sparked outrage. Minister of State for Home Rijiju had also drawn flak on Wednesday after he said that he agreed with a former LG of Delhi who had once remarked that north Indians "take pride in and enjoy" breaking rules.
"I feel that as leaders of the ruling party, we must all be extra cautious while making any statement," the Home Minister said.
Rajnath Singh said Ministers and BJP leaders must ensure that their statements were reflected in proper perspective and no wrong message is communicated through them.

So far at least 36 writers including leading names like Nayantara Sahgal, Ashok Vajpeyi, Uday Prakash and K Veerabhadrappa had returned their Akademi awards and five writers stepped down from official positions of the literary body, protesting against "rising intolerance", killing of writers and rationalists besides incidents like Dadri lynching and ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni. The writers are of the view that secularism is under threat and there have been attempts to curb free speech.
Returning his award, playwright Atamjit Singh had said that "whatever is happening in the country is really painful", while playwright and theatre director Ajmer Singh Aulakh said: "Our freedom of independent thinking has been violated."
Strong protest "against religious and creative intolerance" in some parts of the country at last compelled the Sahitya Akademi to break its silence.
While condemning the killing of writers and incidents like Dadri lynching, the Adademi expressed solidarity with the writers and urged those authors who had returned awards conferred by it to take it back. It also appealed to those who have stepped down from various Akademi posts to take back their resignations. The Akademi also asked the state and Central governments to take immediate action to bring the culprits to book and ensure the security of writers now and in future.
We can not deny the fact that just few months before the installation of NDA Govt at Centre; intolerance against particular community and tribe were minimal. But it is unfortunate that just over a year of the new Govt, unrest and intolerance have become main mantra in place of development. It seems the ruling Govt has failed to rein in the radical right groups which have been spreading a message of hatred and unrest. Time has come for Modi Govt to give the Nation a right direction with a vision of prosperous and powerful India and not violence and hatred based on religious affiliations. India needs to look beyond the narrow path of religious or regional differences if it has to grow as a secular nation.

Dear Editor,
This is regarding the demands of the Arunachal Teachers Association’s (ATA) three points memorandum to Chief Secretary on walk in interview for AT and TGT vide order No. EED.2/342/APT/2013 dated Itanagar, the 9th October 2015, published in your daily.
I am not against any association or organization, but it really hurts that the unemployed youth rarely get the chance to attend any interview after years of hard works. The unemployed youths began to feel pressurised not only by our family members but now also by various organizations.
Moreover, NDA led government as well as Arunachal Pradesh State Government us trying to resolve the unemployment problem in our states through numerous skill development programmes.
In my view, like all other development, the employment opportunities should also be sustainable. So that each person gets a chance to show their knowledge and skills to compete for any kind of job. Let the right person gets the right job.
In contrary, I would like to highlight that whatever the present post they are holding under SSA or otherwise, at least they are getting something in return through which they are able to sustain themselves and their families.
The unemployed youths still have to depend on their parents for monthly expenditure as many youths from district head quarters come and stay at Itanagar for better opportunities.
Therefore, I earnestly request all the Associations, kindly not to deny these opportunities which are rightfully ours.

Dear Editor,
I would like to inform about the incident that took place at Hayuliang Durga Puja premises in the evening of 20th Oct. The Civil Administration passed an order that the stalls and gambling is stopped before 2130 Hrs to avoid any untoward incidents in the Puja.
But this order was opposed by some youths and consequently one youth was held by the Police for a few hours in their custody, who was released soon.
After the release of the youth, the public and students became violent and attempted

So, the magistrate ordered the police personnel to lathicharge which anguished the students and public resulting heavy stone pelting on the magistrate and the police personnel which led to heavy damage to the judicial custody building of Hayuliang and six vehicles including two of police, one belonging to the Magistrate and three public vehicles. Police had fired at least 30 to 40 rounds of bullets to disperse the mob but all in vain.
Though the undersigned has also appealed the Civil Administration, before commencement of Puja, not to allow the sales of liquor in the stalls but our request was not entertained by the administration.
The undersigned strongly condemn the incident and urged the both Public and Police to avoid such kind of incidents. This type of incidents should not be repeated in near future.

Enhance Salaries
Dear Editor,
Through the columns your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authority regarding salaries of Art, Work Experience and Physical Training teachers under SSA Mission who are paid just Rs 5000 only.
I am one of the part time teachers working as Art Teacher and I find the salary not in commensurate with the work we do. Our work is not less than that of a normal teacher. But there is huge disparity in the wages. Today, even a casual labour is getting more paid than us. On what basis our salary is fixed Rs 5000 only, whereas we have required qualification of Class 10th pass with diploma in the concern field.
How IS one able to discharge his/her duty at such a less amount of wages/salary? Other than the salary there is no way to eke out extra income because of our busy schedule. It is difficult to sustain ourselves ion in such less salary so I request the concern authority to rectify this at the earliest and enhance the salaries.
